When I think some of my old members from europeans countries have even been able cancel their subscription here thinking I support Russia and their war against Ukrain, shows how it's stupid to just try have a discussion and opinion on a public forum.
So I guess the person you are speaking about has also understood it's better just mention official fact than try discuss when it goes to become a war even here ...

I am a very positive and optimistic person always able to let problems slip on my skin but I really feel our freedom diminishes over the years and it's bad !!!

i watched Spycraft as well and it's very interresting stuff, a little bit pro american in my opinion when always saying American spys are good but the russian ones are directly bad (specialy in the last episode "the perfect spy").
But it gives some insights about how the countries behaves specialy the big ones spying each others, and in some ways it helps to improve the technology like it was the case during ww2. But the future of the war will probably with the one that will master the AI power, terminator is not so far from now i believe.

In my view there is pendulum that swings back and forth.....As an example the "sexual revolution" in the 70 's. Sex became a kind of positive activity. And I assumed in future sex would be nothing special.

A couple of years later we have a climate where you need to be careful to ask a woman how late it is, because this could be considered an attempted rape. Or the concept of a visual rape, in case you look at a girl and she does not like it.....

All backed up by people who should be quite relaxed about sex because of growing in the 70's or later....

In the middle ages if your opinions were outside the mainstream you were burnt at the stake. Today you are burned on a virtual stake on social media if you step out of line.

Anyway, it is like it is and I try to enjoy life as much as possible.....

Oh yes me too I enjoy life every day it's not this the problem it's about my kids that I am thinking every day !!!

Myself I know that I can't anymore drive at 300 Km/h as I love too because there are radar every meters and also that my phone is a spy showing permanently to all authorities of earth where I am and what I do. I do with it no choice ...
And I haven't to build my life and find a girl to share all with me so I am relax on that part as I have a marvelous wife but when I see the craziness of the humans nowadays I wonder how next generations will find love ...

But what will it be for my childrens in 50 years ??? I don't even want imagine ...

So far it is not mandatory to own a smart phone. It is your own decision to carry a smart phone at all times. Throw your phone in the next bin and issue is resolved I still have an old Nokia dumb phone and do more demanding stuff on my laptop...

What will be in 50 years ? Nobody knows.....could be anything from having the next Covid going on up to a new "crazy" political party getting power- nobody heard about today..........

I would recommend to teach your children that there is always a way out, you are not happy in a country - move to another country that works better for you....... so I guess the children in 50 years have still some options, it is up to them to pick the best one for them...

And it's better this way, because no matter how skilled you are, roads and highway, are not made to be used at 300km/h, about phones yes i agree, but GPS/localisation (spy , as you said) can also save lifes, like isolated people that have accident in complicate zones (forest, snow, ect ), it can be a "good thing", from this side

The way I see it is Putin started the war, he is to blame.
But the way Russian millionaires, Russian Celebrities, Russian sportsmen/sportswomen and other Russian people have been treated is wrong, they are being punished because of the actions of their president.

People think punishing the Russian citizens will encourage them to protest against Putin and force him out - but it won't because protesters in Russia end up in jail or get a beating.

So when innocent Ukrainians get punished - people say its a horror, evil, bad.
But when it comes to innocent Russians getting punished - people don't care.

If people around the world are happy to punish innocent human beings purely because they are Russian... (example - I'm sure OnlyFans removed some Russian models at the start of the war) I see that as racism / discrimination... which makes them no better than Putin.

If people gave the same amount of respect to the innocent Russian people as they do to the innocent Ukrainian people - rather than alienating them - it may eventually help stop the war... but instead we'll keep punishing them and they will start to think Putin is the good guy in it all.

Yes i agree. We definitely are heading the way that sex would be seen something as undesirable. And that men can't be men and women can't be women.
But yes, enjoy in life is mantra. Enjoy in women, in fine wine, in nice music... Anything you can get your hold on.

Yes, I was genuinely surprised by it. Remember that as independent figters, Wagner don't really need to answer to Putin, Prigozyn assessment of the situation should not be discarded

I already explained many times that yes I was a Putin's fan at the begining in 2000's because he did a lot of good things for his country but step by step he became a dictator unfortunately.
I do not think Putin is the only one to blame in this sad war and for me the NATO with USA have their part of responsability.
I am almost sure if Trump has been reelected this war will have never start.
I do not support the war on Ukrain and wish the peace to be set up. What's happened now with Wagner group is a sign something is not working good between Putin and his army. I hope maybe it can be a good advise for him it's time to stop the war. Enough innocent people have lost their lives ...
