    Catalonia, apart from being a region of the northeast of Spain, is also a very wellknown Hotel enterprise. And Pierre is right, weather in Spain is usually good, but practically no one is on the beach at this time of the year.

I think I know where Pierre is, but he wants to keep the secret and I will respect his desire.
But... I will just give a hint.... (maybe i'm wrong, but don't think so).

How does one feel bathing in caves where ancient tribes sacrificed virgin women so that their gods send them rain and water to have good harvest and so maintain the survival of their people Pierre? (if you are not where I think you are, then this sentence has no sense     )

One of my dreams is to visit that place.... the ruins are something spectacular... and the wisdom of those people is even superior to ours nowadays, even more thinking that they didn't have the resources for studying we have today.

Enjoy your hollidays in.......... Pierre ;)

In Dublin? with those waters and Pierre in them? No      i think Pierre is quite far from Ireland, in hotter waters

I won't say my guess until Pierre gives his permission. And of course, I can be wrong, but there's some clues in his photos that lead me to my opinion. We'll see.....

Hey :!: The weather can be very nice in Ireland... what with the warm waters of the Gulf Stream and all that! I thought that the pictures of Pierre were taken on Dollymount Strand... not far from the gasworks :)
It is an innocent mistake... if I am incorrect in my assertion ;)

   I'm not 100% sure of where Pierre is, but I am 100% sure he is not in Europe :D

Those palm trees, strong wind, Catalonia Hotel, turquese waters in a "cave" (if I'm not wrong, it is not strictly a cave, but something similar).... that can just be......

where I think he is, enjoying hot waters and white sand beaches, and maybe exploring that ancient ruins full of symbolism....

(and now i realise that if Pierre tells where he is before i say something, then my guess would have not value at all, because everybody can think i say it after him, so before i could be thinking a totally different place, and I would remain as a total moron, but I will keep silent anyway for respect to Pierre's privacy).

But it occurs to me, if Pierre reads this, that he doesn't say anything, and we could make a sort of a guessing concurse saying everyone of us where we think he spent the New Year with Sophie, until one say the correct answer and Pierre affirms it.

As Rebecca said before, it could make this topic even more interesting, so if Pierre agrees, he will tell us here and we can start spitting places of world

It looks to me that you are possibly 100% incorrect. ;)
If you can excuse my Irish simplicity and look carefully at the pictures of Pierre and his good lady, you will notice in the first picture a sign behind the happy couple with the wording Catalonia.

My guess then would be that Pierre is indeed in Catalonia.

Actually you might be surprised to know that current thinking suggests that the populations of Ireland and Britain were originally settled (in pre-historic times) by people who travelled along the coast of Spain and France and then by sea to Britan and Ireland. Human genetic studies have revealed a great similarity in DNA sequences between the people of the Basque Countries (in France and Spain) and the peoples of Ireland and Western Britian (Scotland, Wales and Western England). These similarities (genetic traces) are particularly strong in Western Ireland (Connacht) where there has been little human migration since ancient times. Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and Brittany are Celtic Countries but it looks like this is more by adoption of languange and customs. Originally the Celts were from Bavaria and the Czech Republic and were more Germanic in appearance (tall and blonde). Celtic language and custom was probably adopted by the original Irish, Scots, Welsh much like the English language was also adopted (or imposed) in later times. It appears that the original population of Ireland (and Britain) may have actually originated in Spain. (See the following article for more information http://www.independent.ie/opinion/analy ... 33700.html )
