I had never heard of MindGeek before. They remind me of poachers who kill elephants for the ivory. Once all the elephants are extinct, the poachers will go on to some other illegal practice, like selling virgin girls to cure a man of Aids.
A Democratic president would never go after MindGeek for antitrust violations.

thanks for sharing this interesting article with us. it was only a matter of time when one comany (mindgeek) would dominate all others. in many industries today, only a few (usually twor or three) control more than 90% of the market. beside them can only survive a couple of highy specialized niche players.

How is working to make money nowdays from porn compare with the past ?

Nowdays is a big pirattery , there are websites of torrents and so on , i always get any kind of porn i want without a problem . I think that is a big problem for industry , for me is good seince i am from relative poor Romania

I am just curious how porn industry still make a lot of money if many people use piratery?

Because fortunately, not all planet is thieves and motherfuckers like all those making Tubes and P2P sites.
I can imagine it's a big temptation to get for free the things but who likes when somebody takes what is yours ??? Will you be happy if I come in your home and take all what I want and go out with it in my pocket ?

I have a friend who loves Hollywood movies. He can't get enough and basically watches every new release. He's almost an amateur film critic, he knows that much ! He downloads every movie from Torrent sites, and has been to the theater only once in the past year (to watch Avengers 3d). When I try to explain how he's killing the movie industry, he laughs at me and says "If I don't download the next guy will, so why should I pay ?"

He makes $150K per year, has a small mortgage, can easily afford to drop $20 in the movie theater. I always ask him out to the movies. I try and convince him by saying "you get popcorn, its a nice night out, watching on the big screen is fun" ... he just laughs and says "why pay if its free in 2 months ?"

This is the problem with most people. A lack of consideration for anything beyond themselves.

Anyway I am optimistic about future even if it will be a long fight !!!

It all comes down to common sense.
Me and all my friends use torrents all the time. In my country it is so typical that 93% of all internet users download torrents regularly.
You would think movie industry is dead here? Quite the opposite several years double digit growth. Movie theaters increased by a factor of 20 over last 10 years. You have to book tickets 1 week in advance.
I go to theater 1-2 times every week and sometimes even buy tickets for family if the movie is good. I donate regularly to animal shelters, fundraisers and indie movies.
All this because I know it takes money to make stuff. If we dont pay it just vanishes. All of my friends think that way and still buy content even if some of them have 100 TB hard discs of movies and music.
So dont take all piracy as lost revenue. Quite often it is an incentive to support by buying. An introduction to the work of someone. Case of this has been proven in cinemas and books. I am not sure for porn, but I think it is pretty much similar.
There is yet to be seen a online hub that is half as good as some of the top torrent sites. It is not about money. It is about superior service and convinience to browse and revie content. Nothing comes closer to this and when it does it will take over, even if you have to pay.

Piracy is like a needle in the leg of a runing man !!! Yes he will be able to do the race but not with same performances !!!
All thieves of the world doesn't understand that they just destroy the system. OK they are happy to get things for free but what they get is not the pure essence of what it could be. For instance myself, without pirates stealing my work, I will be more motivated to do things I don't want do because don't wish to see it given for free ...
So piracy is just a poison who doesn't hurt so much Hollywood because they do billions and billions of dollars without any efforts but for porn industry, it's a cancer !!!
