Re: 4K
Well, look at the processor of this one 4Mgh and it's dedicated to 4K editing, so I don't think the full configuration will be so bad. Already the 27 inch actual in full configuration is very good and not so far from the Mac Pro. If you consider you have 2 Imac 5K for the price of 1 full configuration Mac Pro, not sure the deal is so bad ...
And the best is to see they sale a display 4K more expensive than the Imac in 5K !!!
Funny ...

Re: 4K
iMac, MacBook Pro
- User-grade i5/i7 processor with variable frequency to maintain temperature balance
- Mobile dedicated graphic card
- Non-ECC RAM memory
- Very small air intake/exhaust with small cooling fan
- Ability to connect one 4K monitor @60 fps
Mac Pro
- Professional-grade Xeon processor able to work 24hr a day under pressure
- Professional-grade graphic card
- ECC RAM memory with error-solving technology able to work 24hr a day up to 64 GB
- Huge air intake/exhaust with very big cooling fan that dont need high rpm to cool down whole system, so its very quiet.
- Ability to connect four 4K monitors @60 fps
If someone produce a lot of 4K content on monthly basis, Mac Pro is only way to go. You can stress your Mac Pro almost 24hr a day to render 4K videos without degrading raw-power of processor & graphic card. If you use iMac/MB Pro you will lose a lot of time waiting for machine to get job done, since it is over-heated and processor works under lower frequency to keep temperature down. If you multiple how many videos some guy produce on monthly basis you can see how much time is lost on waiting machine to get job done. So for some guys Mac Pro is not expensive since it brings a lot more in shorter time period, with insane level of stability.
If you dont see any advantage in Mac Pro, well it is very expensive toy in that case

Re: 4K
Of course the mac pro is a much stronger and powerful machine but as I said it's the price of TWO Imac full configuration and for some people ( me for instance ) it's good to work on two machines !!!
But yes definitely the Mac Pro is a solid long term machine and myself I am adept of the Mac Pro ex G4 and G5 since 2001. I have never used Imac but my brother has the latest 27 inches. Nice machine too ...
And just today a friend of mine has send me this. It's in french ( test are understandables anyway ) but they said the new Imac in 4ghz version is superior to the MacPro, reason why they will do a new update for all MacPro soon ...

Sony sets out to capture the strange beauty of bubbles freezing in this spot out of Adam & Eve/DDB London promoting Sony Bravia 4K Ultra HD TVs. Directed by Leila and Damien de Blinkk, it was filmed in 4K (which has four times the detail of normal HD) in the Canadian forests near Whistler ...
