The paper is indeed very interesting in its study of the evolution of the psychological profile of the porn fan. The fact is that people don't want to perceive themselves as fans of porn /stars/ anymore. Because let's face it, it's humiliating. People like porn, they like girls doing hard sex, but the supposed stardom and the feelings associated with that is out of the question these days. That probably explain the developpement of anonymous porn (the porn tubes) where spectators don't know the names of the actressses (they just focus on a certain type of sexual practice or kind of actresses) and at the other end of the spectrum a form of porn where the consumer wants to have the feeling that he's able to really connect with the actress.

And of course, this is exactly what this site is about: you create a personnal link between you and the consumers and through you they have the feeling that they have a connection with the actresses, Of course, it also has to do with the type of porn that you're doing (mainly initiations) and the story-telling of it, the way you blur the line between your job and your life, the way the meeting with each girl is always described as a personnal experience. The fact that you focus your promotion through sex salon and erotic exhibition is also pretty clever in that context.

Of course, all this "connection thing" is more or less an illusion. But as a marketing strategy, it's probably pretty effective.
