My childrens make the choice ! I never push them to believe or not and I gave them
books about ALL religions. Then they made there choice without any influence ...

It's all based on personal experience, I think . For every one that has a poor view and experience with a religious institution, you can find another who feels the opposite. Weather you believe in a deity or not, the statistics prove that "faith" improves moral, combats depression, and lowers suicide rates. Many medical professions report a dramatic increase in the recovery rate of those who place importance in some religion. We understand healing can be very much a matter of mindset. If it is a positive influence in the life of an individual, and makes that person happy, I fail to see where it's a bad thing.

The problem is with the extremists that are determined to force their belief on another, or prevent others from living freely due to some religious belief system. In short, it is not a problem of religion, but of some people who take it up.

Once again I believe I will have to marry Rafale (but not before God, I do not believe in him) as I agree with her. I consider myself half atheist and half agnostic as I do not want to have the arrogance to pretend I know for sure there is no God (at least we know his name..). Nevertheless for people who do believe I can imagine religion can bring some support in their lives and their environment depending how they (a)buse religion.
