Re: Australia Canada or USA ?

Post by PIERRE WOODMAN »

OK my choice is AUSTRAAAAAAAAALIA !!!
Why ? because is USA without the bad side of USA !!! For sure the country number one on earth excepted for one thing, the faune is very dangerous and the beach are all risky ...
Florida is nice place but Miami for me is boring, nice beaches OK, nice night life OK but out of Lincoln street there no shopping place very good and soon everybody will speak spanish there ... with regulary some nice hurricanes !!!
If I should live in USA I will take Honolulu, this is paradise ! Much better than Miami and no criminality like in Miami !!! And second USA choice will be San Diego, very nice too and near Mexico and Los Cabos ( I love this place too ! )
Canada is the same like Australia, a fantastic country to be but ...in summer only !!! The winter are too cold and it breaks a lot the story !!! I love Montreal and Quebec but Vancouver is my prefered one there !

I'm leaving Bahamas in few hours ! It's a real paradise here a perfect place to stay with a very democratic spirit in the law ! But it's a bit like Miami ( excepted the violence is near 0 ), I mean no many things to do if you're not a rich man !

Until now my favorite wild place on earth is : SEYCHELLES !!! The true paradise it's there but only if you want play Robinson Crusoe for true !!!
I also like Bora Bora but it's like Bahamas, nothing special to do, to much superficial aspect and expensive !!!

Merci Pierre !

So interesting, everyone's opinion. Pierre, you choose some places very different than I do! Of course, you understand my bias!

Mark Marcus, it's such a personal thing... for me, the East Coast USA is the best choice if you have family or people to visit Europe. It's a big expense and waste of time to fly from the west coast. Plus, the cost of living in Cali is insane (if that is something important to you). Though if you life the proximity to the beaches on the west, and if you like the desert, Arizona is very nice. The painted desert is something you can't imagine... you have to see it!

Miami is fun for the nightlife, but I can't imagine living there. My home in Florida is in a place called Ponte Vedra. I love it. It's a little pricey in some areas, but the beaches are very nice and many private areas. It's close enough to the international airport, and a short drive to some larger cities... Even a scenic drive down the A1A will take you to the Florida Keys. I prefer them to the Bahamas, which I find way too touristic (no, I do not need my hair braided for $1). But, again, from Florida, it's very easy to travel. Mexico, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Aruba, Bahamas... all easy flights.

There is so much here, again, it's all about what your needs are. We have everything. I just prefer the weather and the laid back atmosphere I find in the south, but in each region, and every state, so much to offer.

You need a tour ;)

One of my best friend has a house in loblollybay Marina near Palm Beach. In 2001 I took the 95 until Savanah ! I must said South Carolina beach are very beautiful but it's still america ! No possible to drive 1 miles over, everyone has a gun in pocket, always people speak so nice to you but it's totally fake and inside their heart they don't like foreigners, etc ... it's like that !!! But of course it's also 100 time safer than Paris and not so expensive etc ...
If you live in Australia, first of all they are really friendly or very rude but it's true ! And when you have a job it's always very well paid ! It's big like America but with only 20 millions people, huge difference, lot of free space and freedom moment on the road where you can drive fast if you are far from everything ... I love OZ !!!

My brother lives in Savannah, so I visit there often. Easy to take I-95 strait up from my place in FL. I hope you saw Charleston while in South Carolina. Its very historic, like Savannah, but cleaner. Not to mention there is a wonderful place there called Patriot's Point where you can explore an old CV-3 carrier ship, a sub, and many aircraft.

I carry a pistol with me nearly everywhere... which is why it is so safe. I think it depends where you are in the country as to how you will be received as a foreigner. It's not so bad as France, I am sure of that.

I agree, the open spaces are fantastic, Australia has that, but if you want a good mix of privacy within proximity to everything you need and could want, I think there are better locations here. But, again, I am unfairly biased.

I have been to Quebec, Lady Oscar. Its nice except for the French people  . I MUCH prefer Vancouver in the west... but only in the summer!
