In layman terms trademark can be sign, logo etc! Eg:- nike , reebok, apple! The reason people register trademark is to prevent other people from selling products using somebody elses logo or sign ! If i try to sell a cheap phone using apple logo i shall be liable for trademark infringement because apple logo has been registered as a trademark! Hope its clear!

If i sell cheap slippers manufactured in my factory with nike logo i shall be liable for damages!
