Photography Gear
Pierre, what kind of a photo gear would you recommend? I see that you have Balcar equipment in one of the castings and what about that white lens that you have.

Re: Photography Gear
I've always used Balcar monoblocs because it was the only material on earth able to follow 5 pics/sec with the 50 Asa of the Velvia.
Then arrived the numérique and I stopped to shoot porn sets ! Today I've Canon 5D and 7D but no more flash box, I shoot all in natural light or I use a simple flash Canon 580 .

Re: Photography Gear
Because I still have my 5D classic. I took a couple of photography courses 3 years ago and I have some photo gear, but I am looking to expand it. I have 2 lens: 50mm f1.4 and 24-70mm f2.8L. I think that for the full line-up of lens it would also take 16-25mm f2.8L, 70-200mm f2.8L and maybe 85mm f1.4 with 300mm f2.8L. For the lighting I am thinking to go with White Lightning strobes, this is an American company that manufacture the strobes in USA and they are known for their excellent customer service, they sell directly to consumers and rarely advertise. It is from the same company that makes Alien Bees strobes.

Re: Photography Gear
Yes, B&H is not bad but I like to avoid it most of the times because too many people and prices are not the best. There is another photo store in NYC that is called Adorama, they have a lot of photo equipment, customer service is more personal and prices are little bit lower than in B&H.

Re: Photography Gear
Yes, but the price difference is usually only couple of cents to a couple of dollars. But I really prefer Adorama more because of less people/customers and better/personal customer service. The store is not big, not small either, but they have a lot of products and big warehouse in the basement. They have mostly photography equipment than video equipment. And they have much better department with better prices of used equipment than B&H.
There is also a good photo store in the NYC called Calumet, but I never been there and do not know where it is, but they have around 12-14 locations in America from what I heard.
