No matter if people like her or not, I think it is extremely inappropriate and distasteful to speculate about a serious issue like that.

Same with August Ames.. Don't get me wrong, but as a professional from the medical field, I can tell you that depression is a serious illness and in many cases even a loving and caring family and friends can't save a person from its demons. Sadly, it is not as easy or causal as some people might think.

Without knowing anything about these peoples situations in practice, I think everyone should abstain from any speculative statements, no offense..

I agree that cases where depression lead to substance abuse or vice versa are different and arguably even more difficult to treat, but the role the personal environment plays are variable in any case. Some people overcome their condition completely on their own or with professional help only, others can also rely on their family and friends to play a vital role in the process. But sadly, there are many cases where family, friends and professionals tried the best they could and nevertheless were not able not prevent a tragedy from happening.

All I'm saying is there is no general causal connection between a suicide from depression and the positive or negative role the personal environment did play. It does influence the development of the condition, no question, but to imply in general, that if family and friends only did care enough, they could have prevented the tragedy, has been scientifically proven wrong.

I think people should not jump to theories like that, especially if they are not involved in the persons life and don't know about the personal and private background.
