Sure, but take for example those Egyptian or Saudi guys. They talk about their woman like a possesion. Women have almost no rights and are a means to satisfy their sexual desire. No consideration for their needs at all. They are raped when they don't wear a burka (e.g. the rapes on the Freedom square in Cairo).

I was also appalled by the rapes in India (majority is Hindu), but I guess it's in the culture of these countries. Maybe these men are so sexually frustrated by the limits imposed by the Muslim or Hindu religion (no sex before marriage) they derail.

Fortunately we have left this period behind in the majority of Europe and the US since the secularization so people don't feel that much pressure anymore (in this case Christianity). The liberation of women in the sixties (also thanks to the anti conception pill) did help too of course.

It's unfortuantely true that women in these places you mentioned are far to have any chance of freedom until now ...
