For me the 4K is a very great thing. Yes some people like you complain a bit of the weight but it was exactly same in 2009 when I started to put HD !
I was feeling guity and put down the Mb/s to 5000 un order be lighter and then later to 10000.
Today with 4 K I have less complain and it's really the most successful videos on the site ...

Anyway you're wrong they shoot with the same camera as most americans using 4K.
Canon 500, Sony S7, RedOne, etc ... at the end the important is what you send on your server and what you delivery to your client.
Myself I prefer give a bit a bader streaming with 720p for the HD and 1080p for the 4K
but you have HD at 10 Mb/s and 4K at 20 or 30 Mb/s to download.
And from April 2016 the quality of my video on site will be higher ...

The camcorder still. The Sony has been used for the latest Area X69 and the Cappuccino XXX because you can't move too much.
The other shooting I do are moving to much, so I use the old camcorder because today with 4K format, any single mistake of focus kills you immediatly ...
