OK, in America we call this an inside joke. Only this "inside" is probably somewhere in Europe, because I don't know who he is.
(He looks like a kindly grandfather.) I am curious.

This kindly grandfather is a legend of french TV and the most famous radio-program presenter and TV-program presenter. He worked a lot at french TV from 1955 until now even if he doesn't host lots of program now
He is also well-know for his books and recentlt tv-program about cold case and mystery disappearance ( disparition inexpliquée in french)

OK. Now I see the humor.
Totoro, that was excellent.

Sounds like it is similar to the show Unsolved Mysteries here in the US. It was hosted by Robert Stack (Untouchables).

Re: disparition inexpliquée
When I saw the picture, I thought of this man.
A Frenchman through and through, Maurice spent a lot of time singing and acting in Hollywood movies. With his French accent, American women loved him. To me, his most famous song was "Thank Heaven for Little Girls". As the lyrics go - those little girls grow up to be beautiful women. And then they meet Mr. Spiderman.
He lived to be 83.
