But this 30 mns video, with my exporting configuration at 30 Mb/s ( under is fucked up for 4K ), takes long time to be done on the last MacBookpro with 16GB ram.

Also the 4K is very nice but if you watch it on 720p streaming it's not so good quality even it can be looking bad if you have shit screen resolution, and if I give you a real 4K streaming, with the number of people who have clicked the two last days, it will have cost me more money than I have got !!!

i did some quick math assuming you get 6k customers downloading all your videos
in full hd ie 72mo/minute filesize and you released 1435min of videos last month
it does around 64000 To of downloaded data.
using amazon cloudfront it would amount around 6.4 dollars/user which seems
quite reasonable.

maybe but when you need to update a scene and reencode the whole stuff
the cloud is a huge time saver.
all you have to do is upload the original file on the server
then you have the scene for every desired format in seconds.
this is the power of the cloud,you have as much power as needed at your hands
in seconds.
it is win win for everybody,it is just like you share x machines with x people.
when you are talking about 'semi industrial' usage it is a nobrainer.

If it has been on Cloud, it will never have arranged me more, it will have been send to the trash as I did with the original one ...

there is no perfect solutions,
but i suggest you should just give it a try for 20 bucks you can test it and see how
it can be used into a workflow.
if you go on travel and you have 5 five edited scenes on the waiting list you do not need x computers with you and think 'shit i have five scenes and need x hours to encode them in x formats'.
you just need one cpu and a network connections it is a big saver.
they even support hevc format that is why you begin to some kind of 4k sites blossoming around.
it may not be your unique tool in the box,but at some point getting a better swiss knife may help.

the estimate i got of bandwitdth cost was using highest quality format ie
1920X1080 ie 72Mo/min filesize
given around 1435 min of video released last month you get around 104 Go
of data per user :using cloudfront at 0.03$/Go you get around 3$/user

i tested heywatchencoding
it is mind blowing fast and simple
you give the url of your file(i used a dropbox stored video file but you can use amazon s3,your own webserver and so on)
then you select the different output format you wish(as many as you want)
then the files are directly send on your website at the specified urls
(ie ftp://user:pass@webserver.com:21 videos720p.mp4)
given your webserver are as fast as theirs, files can be uploaded on your website in minutes.
there is an API so you can write some scripts and automate the whole thing.
i tried the free version which gives only a 5sec vid output so i cannot quantify
the encoding speed,
but it took only around 2 min between the time i specified the file url location
,2 outputs formats before i got the encoded files on my webserver!

BTW heywatchencoding is afaik not accepting adult content as source...

heywatchencoding will cost more than the current system we use.
Our system can encode all formats faster than realtime.
I'm not sure they will be able to do this.
But this seems to be a very nice system, the API is very smart.

True there a lot of parameters to take into account considering streaming quality
or video size.
i am not BTS and do not know what is your working process,
but from reading the forum it looks like it is PW encoding the videos himself
on a mac which looks a little bit outdated plus time consuming.
also we often read it takes some times to upload the videos on the server,
but considering a solutions like heycode+cloudfront videos are encoded ,uploaded
in minutes considering the bandwidth they have.

when considering encoding cost it looks like to be around 40$ for a 60 min vid,
you need to consider time saving cost,no hardware cost,plus no power bill(huge machines with big graphic cards eat a lot).
i do not know what are your costs but it does not seems a lot( around 1.5k per month
if you take a 1min=1$ cost).
again i do not know your workflow so it hard to compare.

on the one hand you seems to be quite up to date on available technologies
and their usability on the other PW seems to be always on a rush to encode ,upload videos so it is a little bit difficult to know where is the truth.

You forget I'm always travelling and I have to upload mostly in the year from the hotel place where I stay and 90 % of the hotel today have restricted upload possibilities which makes my life difficult !!!
If the new MacBookPro is "old material", well I wonder what is new and at home I have not taken yet the latest Macpro yet because my "old" 12 heart 64 GB Ram from 2012 which has cost me 12 000 euros is still not a dead machine and works well ( I prefer spend 10 K today on pussies than computers ) !!!

My support team helping me with the site technical complicate part, is good and advise me well about what to do or not. The way I am working is the fastest anyone does actually in the business, I can shoot a video interview now and having it on the site in an hour !!! The complicate part is the video with sex which request sometime 2 days of work. And this, only me can do it ...
