Many of the leading men in the 1950's French romantic movies had a dark complexion, and lots of chest hair. It was the fashion then. Girls told me that this type of man was their ideal romantic man.
They would fantasize about feeling a man's strong hairy legs between their thighs and keeping them apart. Even the French actresses fell for them and had off-camera affairs with them. Roger Vadim directed these 2 in one of his films.
