Today I dropped one of my external HDD on the floor and it is dead!!!!

400 GB worth of avi, wmv, pdf, doc, excel, powerpoint, email archives, pages, numbers, jpg files from many years of collecting and saving. Lots of family pictures and vacation videos. All gone!!!!

I often read that you said in thread x,y,z "sorry I did casting with girl or I had BTS material but all got destroyed". So you have had this problem in the digital age also I pressume! Also for you it would be a disaster if you were lucky enough to have made a private movie of a Ménage à trois with for example miss world, you, and sophie and then bam!!!! its gone because of a mistake or accident!!!!

My question, what do you do nowadays in terms of back up??????
I can imagine you have many digital files (avi,wmv etc) of scenes/films and millions of photos in jpg format. Some which are/is soooo unique that it will never be on the site or because you have personal/emotional feeling towards the materials.

How does a professional such as yourself prepare for a busted/dead HDD or for something like what happend to me????Tips????Thanx.

You mean on a simple external HDD from freecom/western digital or something like that or what do you use nowadays?

I don't think I will try the extra SSD method, that is one thing fo' sure: that is for millionaires, no?! Any idea which ones, if it is not too expensive I might be interested!

People always say you need to back-up on another external hdd, but i think the problem is that the backup hdd also has a life span of only a couple of years maximum.
Same problems for transferring to simple DVD-R.

[EDIT: I called a so-called: "Data recovery center" dis morning. The dude said it will cost me plusmin 995-1400 euro's to save restore all files. Goddamnit!!!! ]

No but one simple 2 Tera HD cost 200 $ and you can buy two like that and keep one somewhere has a simple copy. The day one crash, you don't care ...

So, today im finally ready backing up my HDD's.

Still leaves the question open what I will do with the 400GB HDD that is busted!!

besides my personal stuff (vacation foto's, and me fucking my GF), Im pretty sure that there is also lots of "disgusting" porn on it, but I am kind of afraid that they might arrest me for kiddie porn!!

Pierre, what are your thoughts?? Let's say you were me and you did not have a back up of all your precious porn files (home made or professional for the site) and your employees would not be able to recover your files....would you go to a professional (data recovery center?!?!) and pay the 1000 euro's for this 300-400 gig?? Would you feel ashamed/embarrased or would you not give a fuck and deal with consequences (if any!) later!?!?

That ex-GF was really hot But im not sure if she's worth 1000 euro's.
But I dont want to be thrown in jail because of little lupe. And I dont feel like sending them a e-mail to tell them: "Watch out, there is porno on my HDD, but it is cool". Then they gonna invest/take a better look at all files fo' sure!!

I know since long time that USA law is rude and most of the judge in the country have mind from middle age ! I'm always worried when I arrive at control there, that one day one of the police guy will make me problem because of who I'm !!!
It's insane this story but I must said LUPES FUENTES deserve a HUGE bravo for what she did, a noble action !!!

Yes, americans are weird, fo' sure! see story max hardcore! I think you worked with lupe @ private, no?! You did not heard about this story of hers?

Anyways, thank god I also live in west europa. But as said, would you bring that HDD to data recovery center in France without shame and would you be afraid for troubles? Also problem, is that maybe only 50-100 gigs is recoverable then 1000 euros is much moneys!
