I applaud Miss Iceland for having the courage to stand up for her convictions.
A beauty contest is not for the symbol of the countrie's most beautiful woman. It is an entertainment show. The producers pick the judges and pick the top 10 girls. Their idea of beauty is tied to the fashion industry, which changes from year to year. The fashion industrie's idea of beauty is a model in a size 2 dress.
Most important is the fact that they are an image, and must keep that image. A movie star is picked for a role based on their image, and must keep that appearance for the 6 - 8 weeks of the shooting. A TV star must keep their image for the 13 weeks of the season. Miss Universe must keep her image for a year. When she starved herself to get the crown, then gained weight to be healthy, she changed her appearance, which was wrong. Movie and TV producers have privately said very bad things about men and women who changed their appearance during a show. But Trump said it before TV cameras.
Look at the famous paintings made 300 years ago. Their idea of a beautiful nude woman can best described by the word "plump".
