The art of being a Gentleman?

I have a question, I recently had a visit from my partner's sister and her partner, we live in separate countries and we are also from different countries. Anyway I noticed that she would never put her own coat on or take her own coat off, the partner did all that. Also she would never pour her own wine, she would never touch the bottle the partner would be expected to pour it for her when the glass is empty. I was wondering is that common place in others country, I know it can exist but is it common place? I have lived in a number of countries but I can't recall it being common place in any.

Normally an indication that one partner has more money than the other, and the poorer partner is scared of being kicked out and then has to sleep under a bridge.

I think it's rather cultural thing. In some countries, men pay for their women drink or hold doors for them, in some they don't.

Holding doors for female or males is manners, i pretty much always pay for my girls drink too but the taking off and on the coat and not allowing them to pour their own drink is very excessive for me.

I think it's normal to be a gentleman in regular life !!!
I can be a monster in a bed if a girl ask for it ( and sweet too ) but I open the car door to women and help them to wear their coats or serve them drink because it is how I was educated ...
