Lights.. Camera.. Advice..

Hello Pierre,

Some years ago I entered the world of film (digital film). It was fun if short lived - I shot and edited 2 scenes. The first shoot was girl solo, and the second shoot was girl boy. It was quite an adventure, I can tell you. Before both shoots I had preconceived ideas and plans. I stuck to my plans, although things turned out different. It was not until I reached the editing phase, would it become apparent I would have to make the most of the footage I had. sometimes wishing shots had turned out differently. During the first shoot I kept the camera steady using a tripod, as I wanted the result to look as professional as possible. During the second shoot I did the same thing, although I did become a little more adventurous, and held the camera in my hand for a new angle.

While the video camera did a good job of focus and exposure, I was never sure how the lighting would work out.

Here is a shot taken from video of Natalie North (before she worked for Private). It has been divided into 4. As you can see, the original source looks ok, maybe a little red. Using Photoshop it is possible to Auto Level the image. 100% Auto Level looks cold, although Auto Level + reduction in Opacity comes closer to better results.

Do you make any adjustments to your videos ? or do you shoot and stick with the results as they are ?

Maybe someday I will shoot 3 more scenes and release my film. The story keeps on changing and changing. It would be a dream come true to complete a film, release the film, make money, then work on more films. The situation with internet piracy is off putting to say the least.

Opacity 75%

Opactiy 50%

Opacity 25%

which looks better to you ?

Three strikes, you're out, my friend!

My totally non-professional opinion is option #4. There are lots of editing tips online, I would try a search.

Option #4
I guess you mean Opacity 75%

Thanks for your 'non-professional opinion' - I think i agree, although 50% kinda works for me too :D

I shoot differently in function of what I do !
For big production I try to do it as perfect as I can ( but anyway can't fight with the sky blue and grey every minutes, my best problem since I'm working ! )
For casting I don't really care, I take it as it is, with sometime some disagreement with the dark light but I can't carry alway the light with me because it happens often I just found the girls in the street and was not ready to shoot. I have often a camera with me but light of course not ...
So later at the editing I try to correct some mistake of course !

How do you just find girls on the street ? :D
Have you ever thought about capturing the moment with the aid of a hidden camera (a 2nd obvious camera man would spoil the moment).

ah, I never gave 'autorisation' a thought. I guess would be impossible to obtain autorisation from people walking past in the background in the location. Autorisation from the girl shouldn't be a problem providing its a girl that says yes to going all the way.

When it comes to passer by's, this does not appear to be a problem with some porno's. I guess it is only a problem should some spot themselves in such a production.

Others do what they want, it's not my problem ...
