I posted this interview not because Mendel is a decent woman. She is a hypocrite, and she was just as deceitful a “talking head” for Zelenskyy and the entire Ukrainian propaganda machine from 2019 to 2021. She didn’t care that people were being killed in Donbas while she was Zelensky’s press secretary. And she justified it all with her propaganda. Now, she’s shedding hypocritical tears over the war. She fell out with the Ukrainian authorities and fled to the U.S. And she stayed silent for a long time. The fact that she has now given an interview is a clearly planned move directed against Zelensky, and it is part of a larger chain of events (Zelensky’s chief accomplice, Yermak, was detained in Kyiv).
She was simply at the very center of power in Ukraine for a long time, so her words about the customs of political life in Ukraine—and Zelenskyy in particular—are worth listening to. Personally, I see no secrets in her revelations; I posted this interview here for the average Westerner.
