I was watching some reviews on YT and Sony did really awesome job with their 4K camcorder at attractive price for what it offers!
Brand new compression standard H.265 (successor to H.264) should double the data compression ratio compared to H.264 at the same level of video quality. In the end 4K could be offered in pretty small data package without quality loss!
@Pierre For comfortable 4K editing/rendering ,computer configuartion should include Intel Xeon processor and loads of RAM. New MacPro is very good & very pricey piece of technology for 4K editing
at the moment it is still geeky stuff,
useless for industrial production.
you need the whole ecosystem to be in motion to make it usable.
You need the software,hardware on the production side
and the TV sets on the customer side plus huge broadband.
It is still funny for the enlightened amateur but it is still at least
3,4,5 years before making it usable on grand scale.
As far as rendering goes - I think you'll be pushing shit uphill if you try to render on a laptop. You need serious processing power. Supermassive styles.
Yes it's insane how much it takes energy but result is great !!!

But this "grand mamie" on this picture was something like 50 feet under me and moving when I recorded it. The details are exceptionals.

I did not believed too much in the 3D and even if I did a casting like that I imediately gave up, but I trust in the 4K ...

I did more test today and found a way to export the video I did in 4K with only 15 GB by hour but keeping very good quality ( 30 Mb/s ) and preserved the exposition of the extrem thin antena on right and left of the tower, as you can see below ( still a screen capture from my Retina, so only a 2K size ).
Soon I'll give you possibility to get some top quality videos in 4K ( free for best members ) but with extra cost for others ...

I think 4k is so stunnig awesome, but people have to see it with their own eyes until they believe it ... unfortunately, these 4k Screens are still quite expensive ...
