Re: Notre-Dame on fire
The thing that amazed me the most was how EASY it was to gather more than a BILLION Euros from ...donations for the renovation.
In three days, the cathedral has been pledged €100m (£86m) from Francois-Henri Pinault, the ultimate owner of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent; €200m (£172m) from the Arnault family of Louis Vuitton fame; another €200m from L’Oreal owners the Bettencourt Meyers family, and €100m from French oil giant Total.
Yeah. Sure. It's a monument etc. etc.
But all these donations could had other more noble and simultaneously more practical uses, to help living people for instance....
I guess these billionaires might have other advantages doing that, like less taxes or deletion of fines and similar.

Re: Notre-Dame on fire
I agree, we never heard about donations from these billionaires before and for others causes, theses are old assholes full of cash, with their heads stick in the ground the rest of the year, they don't give a shit for others real useful cause (hopital, poor people, school), they just wake up because they are all "amateur" of "art", and it break their heart for the "artistic side" of Notre-Dame, but humain being cause, not so important for theses olds assholes.

Well it's up to each person himself to take care of his own life in an open and democratic society regardless of losers and winners.

I agree. People do what they want with their money. They give money, they're criticized, they don't give money, they are too...
Re: Notre-Dame on fire

Re: Notre-Dame on fire
Notre-Dame is the "must see" touristic place to see when tourist come in paris, after the eiffel tower. Also theses people who did donations are owners of luxury brands/art museum/stores in Paris so it's also in their little interest to invest in Notre-dame, it's good for business in long term, why they don't spend their money into hopitals, foods for poors, ect ? I can pray at home, for god it's the same... also these olds billionaires live in their own worlds, full of self interest and nacissism/egomaniac, they don't care about "true human problem" of the rest of this planet.parisatnight wrote:I agree. I think it was terrorism I don't believe this fire can start so fast and strong by accident. with the renovation ladder everyone can climb up and start the fire.
